Head Lice

Head lice is a common, frustrating problem especially for small children who are more frequently infested than adults.  These tiny parasitic insects live mainly on the scalp and neck hairs of their human host. Head lice are equal opportunity parasites; people from all walks of life are susceptible to infestation.  There is no connection between personal hygiene and head lice infestation. 

Head lice are mainly acquired by direct head-to-head contact with an infested person's hair, but can also be transferred through shared combs, hats and other hair accessories. They may remain on bedding or upholstered furniture for a brief period.  Not able to fly or jump, lice are also unlikely to wander far from their preferred habitat.
