Adventure challenge course coming to Batavia Township
Batavia, OH - Clermont County Public Health and the Batavia Township Trustees are offering a free one mile Family Fun Adventure Challenge course on Saturday May 7. The course will begin at 11 a.m. at the Batavia Township Community Center Park, located at 1535 Clough Pike, Batavia, OH 45103. Beginning at 8 a.m. Batavia Township Trustees will be hosting the East Side Adventure Challenge race. The race is a two mile competitive obstacle course and color run. Though the earlier race will be competitive and involves a participation fee, the family fun course is free and intended for families of all ages. Participants will climb over straw bales, through mud, through tunnels, and over inflatable obstacles while getting covered in different colored dyes along the way. Individuals that complete the course will be given a raffle ticket and entered in a drawing for great prizes. "The goal of the Family Fun Adventure Challenge is to engage Clermont County families, promote physical activity, and contribute to the community in a positive way," said Tiffany White, dietitian with Clermont County Public Health.
The Clermont Coalition for Activity and Nutrition is assisting with the planning of the event. The coalition is made up of health professionals, organizations, and individuals concerned with the health of Clermont County residents. "The Adventure Challenge fits with our mission of being active and eating smart," said Assistant Health Commissioner, Tim Kelly. "We want this to bring families together as a fun way to be physically active," said Kelly.In addition to the obstacle course, public health staff members will be distributing free children’s bike helmets, thanks to a grant from the Put a Lid on It bike helmet safety campaign funded by the Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. After completing the course, families can take part in the Adventure Challenge Festival, which offers food, music and family friendly activities.
